Bargaining
The School Boards Collective Bargaining Act (SBCBA) is the provincial legislation that governs the contract negotiations process in the province of Ontario. The SBCBA can be found here: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/14s05
Collective Agreements between education worker unions and employers must contain both centrally and locally negotiated terms. All updates on central bargaining can be found here: https://www.osstf.on.ca/news/collective-bargaining-bulletin.aspx
The most recent collective agreement expired on August 31st, 2022. The terms of that agreement remain in place until both central and local agreements are negotiated. The current collective agreement can be found here:
Collective Agreement 2019-2022
OSSTF/FEESO Members covered under the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act have voted overwhelmingly to approve the proposal to resolve bargaining with the Ontario government through a process that could include binding interest arbitration. The vote was conducted online from September 8th until September 27th at 8 p.m. and the proposal was adopted with 78.4% support of Members who voted.
